Crazy For Nautical

The Perfect Summer Dress

Its June 1st and although for me it is a very rainy and slightly chilly day here in Berlin, I have dresses on my mind. I just love finding the perfect summer dress to carry me through the season. I always try and look for something beautiful that could be worn casual or dressed up. Choose something with a classic cut in a bright colour or interesting pattern to keep it fresh. When I think of peplum I instantly think of Christan Dior's 1947 New Look. Dior created this look in the very early postwar era to re-invoke femininity and luxury that was lost during wartime rationing. The nipped in waist and flaring at the hips created an ultra feminine hourglass shape that would prove to endure the test of time. Peplum is flirty and today's modern takes on this classic still gives us hints of Dior's vision. So give yourself a New Look and try some peplum. Here are my

White Denim = A Great Summer Staple

Memorial day weekend is traditionally when Americans can acceptably start to wear white. I have never followed this unwritten rule and if you're not American you would have not either. But as it is the holiday weekend I thought I would share some tips with you on how to pick a great pair of white denim to kick off the summer.
1. Pick actual Denim. There are so many varieties of white jeans out at the moment but a lot are not actual denim. A mix version can look sloppy and will not have the right fit. Spend the little extra to get the right pair.
2. Choose a pair with a bit of a crop. A cropped white jean will give your look a bit more polish.
3. Choose white. There are some varieties out there that are slightly off-white. The advantage to pure white is that if you get something on them you can bleach it. Also a pure white will be more forgiving than an off-white or cream.
4. Have fun with your white denim and don't be afraid to try something wild and different!

Reiss The High Street Wonder

Reiss is one of my favourite English High Street brands. Half of my wardrobe comes from this store and while for some it may be a bit on the expensive side they have phenomenal sales in July and just after Christmas. I have also gone in there and got some great deals off the damaged rack. Also Reiss is much much cheaper in England than in America so if you happen to be in England stock up!  I love Reiss's Spring Summer 2012 collection and I cant wait to see what they do for Autumn/ Winter 2012.
